US cruise passenger FAQ
Answers to the questions Cruise Critic, TripAdvisor and Rick Steves forum threads ask the most.
How long does Heathrow to Southampton with Stonehenge and Windsor take?+
Around 7 hours door-to-door including a 90-minute stop at Stonehenge and a 60-minute stop at Windsor. Total driving is ~4 hours 20 minutes. A typical timeline is Heathrow 9am, Stonehenge 10:45am–12:15pm, Windsor 1:15–2:45pm, Southampton terminal 4pm — which lines up with the standard cruise all-aboard time.
Will 4 large suitcases plus carry-ons fit in a saloon for this tour?+
No — book an Estate (4 large + 2 carry-ons) or MPV-7 (7 large + carry-ons). The Saloon fits 2 large + 2 carry-ons comfortably. Cruise luggage is heavier and bulkier than airport luggage, so we recommend up-sizing one class if you're close to capacity.
Are Stonehenge entry tickets included?+
Not by default — we recommend pre-booking timed-entry tickets directly from English Heritage (currently around £25 adult, £15 child). On request we can pre-book tickets on your behalf and add to the booking. The 90-minute stop covers the visitor centre, monument walk, audio guide, cafe and gift shop.
How much does the tour cost?+
From £350 for a Saloon (1–3 passengers, 2 large bags + 2 carry-ons). MPV-7 from £450 (1–7 passengers, 7 large bags). MPV-8 from £550 (1–8 passengers, 8 large bags). Minibus-12 from £750. Fixed price per vehicle, not per person. No surge, no airport surcharge, no tipping expected.
Do you tip the driver in the UK?+
No — tipping is not expected in the UK. The price you see is the all-in price. A small tip is appreciated for exceptional service but never required and never solicited.
What if my flight is delayed?+
Free flight tracking — we monitor your inbound flight and auto-adjust the pickup time for early or late landings. If the delay is severe enough to threaten your cruise all-aboard, the driver can skip Windsor (or both stops) to get you direct to Southampton. We'll call you on landing to confirm the plan.
When should I land at Heathrow for an afternoon Southampton sailing?+
For a 4pm all-aboard, land no later than 9am to comfortably do Stonehenge + Windsor + Southampton. For 5pm all-aboard, land by 10am. We recommend a flight that lands at least 7 hours before sailing for this tour; for 6 hours or less, skip Windsor; for 4 hours or less, skip both stops and take the direct transfer.
Is meet & greet with a name board included?+
Yes — driver waits inside the arrivals hall with a personalised name board, free of charge. No kerbside hand-offs, no missed connections. Driver helps with luggage from the carousel.
Can I pre-pay by US credit card?+
Yes — booking is pre-paid online by card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). Stripe converts at the live exchange rate at checkout — no FX surprise. No cash needed at any point of the journey. We email a paid receipt for your travel records.
Can I book the disembarkation transfer (Southampton back to Heathrow with Stonehenge or Windsor) at the same time?+
Yes — the reverse Southampton → Stonehenge → Windsor → Heathrow tour is available for disembarkation day too. Book both legs in one transaction and lock in both fixed prices. We also offer a shorter Southampton → Windsor → Heathrow variant (~5 hours) if your post-cruise flight is mid-afternoon.
Lock in your embarkation day
Fixed price, free cancellation up to 24 hours, paid in GBP — Stripe converts at the live FX rate.
