Why families pick a private transfer over Royal Caribbean's

Royal Caribbean's official Heathrow → Southampton transfer is around $75 per person each way — so $600 round-trip for a family of 4. Our private MPV-7 fits the same family with all the luggage for £240 each way (~$365). Same arrival window, same Ocean Terminal — about half the cost.

Per-vehicle, not per person

RC charges every traveller, kids included. We charge per vehicle. MPV-7 (£240) for 5–7; MPV-8 (£290) for 6–8.

Crown & Anchor + suite priority

Tell us if you have Diamond Plus / Pinnacle or are in a suite — we time the arrival window to hit your priority boarding rather than the general crush at boarding open.

Cruise luggage + carry-ons in one vehicle

7-night European RC cruise = 4–6 large bags per couple. MPV-7 fits 7 large checked + carry-ons + a folded stroller. No splitting across two cars.

No shared-shuttle wait

RC pools you on a coach that waits to fill. Private = your driver, your vehicle, leave Heathrow when ready. Saturday Anthem turnarounds bring 4,000+ passengers; you skip the rank.

Meet & greet inside arrivals

Driver waits inside the arrivals hall with a name board. Free flight tracking. No fine print if your transatlantic flight runs late.

Add Stonehenge + Windsor en route

Many US RC families add sightseeing on embarkation day. See our dedicated sightseeing-transfer page for the variant with stops.

Royal Caribbean transfer FAQ

Answers tuned for RC passengers from Cruise Critic and the Royal Caribbean Blog community.

How much is the transfer from Heathrow to Southampton for a Royal Caribbean sailing?+

From £170 for a Saloon (1–3 passengers, 2 large bags + 2 carry-ons). A typical family of 4–5 going on Anthem of the Seas books an MPV-7 at £240 (7 passengers, 7 large bags). Fixed price per vehicle — far cheaper than Royal Caribbean's official transfer (about $75 per person, so $300+ for a family of 4 each way).

Which Southampton terminal does Anthem of the Seas use?+

Anthem of the Seas typically uses Ocean Terminal (Berth 46/47), occasionally Mayflower Terminal. The exact assigned terminal appears in your Cruise Documents 7–14 days before sailing. Just give us the terminal name at booking and the driver delivers to that exact gangway.

How long is the Heathrow to Southampton drive?+

~1 hour 20 minutes via the M3. For Saturday Anthem turnarounds (the busy day), the M25 / M3 can add 15–20 minutes — we factor traffic into the booked pickup time. We aim for arrival at the terminal 2 hours before your assigned boarding window.

Will an MPV-7 fit our family of 5 with cruise luggage and kids?+

Yes — the MPV-7 fits 5 passengers with 5 large checked bags, 5 carry-ons, a folded stroller, plus extra small bags. For 6–8 passengers, the MPV-8 has even more luggage room. UK-approved child seats (infant, toddler, booster) are FREE on request — just tell us the kids' ages and weights at booking.

Are free child seats included?+

Yes — FREE rear-facing infant, forward-facing toddler and booster seats on request. Fitted before you board, so no fumbling with car-seat instructions after a transatlantic flight. Royal Caribbean does not include child seats with its transfers.

When does Royal Caribbean boarding open at Southampton?+

Boarding typically opens 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM with all-aboard at 3:30 PM for a 4:30 PM sailing. We recommend arriving Southampton between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM — past the initial boarding crush, before the late-arrival pressure. Crown & Anchor Diamond+ and Pinnacle status passengers may have a priority window — tell us if you want to hit that.

Can the driver wait at Heathrow if my long-haul flight is delayed?+

Yes — free flight tracking auto-adjusts the pickup time. No late-arrival charge if your flight runs 1–2 hours late. If the delay is severe enough to threaten your sailing, we'll call you on landing and the driver can take you direct (skipping any planned sightseeing stops) to make boarding.

Do you tip the driver in the UK? Is the price what I pay?+

No tipping expected. The quoted price is the all-in price — no surge, no fuel surcharge, no per-bag fee, no airport pickup fee. Stripe converts at the live exchange rate at checkout, so US passengers see the GBP price up front with no FX surprise.

Can we add a Stonehenge or Windsor stop on the way to Southampton?+

Yes — many US Royal Caribbean families do this for embarkation day. See our dedicated [Heathrow → Stonehenge → Windsor → Southampton tour](/heathrow-to-southampton-with-stonehenge-stop) which adds ~5 hours and lands you at the terminal by 4 PM. Best for flights arriving Heathrow by 9 AM.

Do you also do the return transfer from Southampton back to Heathrow?+

Yes — book both legs in one transaction. We track the ship via AIS, so the driver meets you at the actual dock time, not the scheduled one. Royal Caribbean disembarkation runs 07:00–09:30; we recommend a homebound flight no earlier than 1:00 PM to allow disembarkation, the 1h 20m transfer and check-in.
